In scene 3 I tried to make the lighting seem darker than the everyday classroom. This is because the scene is supposed to be more upsetting and sad than the others. This scene is meant to be the first scene where we see the bully and for that I turned down the lights in the room to make it seem more ominous in the shot. I also did over the shoulder shots of each character like in the picture below and made the lighting behind the bully darker to show his evil intent.
This shot shows the lighting in the back behind the character as really dark and helps to contribute to the mood of the scene being sad and dark because of how Charlette is being treated by the bully. This scene has a lot of darker lighting in it because of how badly Charlette is bullied throughout this part of the film and shows how the characters truly are.
The lighting also represents how Charlette is feeling throughout the scene. Throughout the scene Charlette is constantly being picked on by the bully and the darker lights show how she is slowly getting sadder the more the bully keeps going. This helps the viewer better understand what the characters are thinking as well as adds more complex feeling to the scene.
