There are many different types of lighting. Lighting is used to help create meaning and feeling in movies and other forms of media. I will be going over all the different types of lighting in films and I will mention the main types of lighting i plan on using the most throughout the beginning of my film
High key lighting: High key lighting is a lighting style that creates a very bright well lit area that creates a minimal amount of shadows and makes for very happy or energetic scenes
Low key lighting: This lighting is the exact opposite of high key lighting the scenes using low key lighting are very dark with many shadows usually creating a more sinister or evil scene which i plan on using a lot in my film clip
I used this image to help show the difference of low and high key lighting and to also show the uses of them with the low key lighting being used for a villain and the high key lighting showing a happy scene of a girl in a field
Fill lighting: A lighting technique where a secondary light is placed opposite of the key light to help soften shadows and reduce contrast. This creates a more natural look to the scenes by balancing the lights and is usually part of the 3 point lighting setup
Back lighting: It is a lighting technique that places another light behind the subject on a screen to do a number of things like separating the subject from the background, and adding depth to the scene. I plan to use a lot of back lighting in my film clip as well
Key lighting: Key lighting is the primary light source in photography and film making

Natural lighting: Is a lighting technique that uses light from things like the noon the sun or other stars
Hard and Soft lighting: Hard lighting Is a kind of lighting that refers to a focused light source that creates sharp defined shadows while soft lighting is a diffused light source that creates softer less defined shadows
Cinematic lighting: A lighting technique thay uses the light to add drama or emotion to the scene
Ambient lighting: Ambient lighting Is a light that provides lighting for a full room and is intended to create a uniform light level in a specific space.
